The Reed City Area Chamber of Commerce ...
A Rich History and a Bright Future
As President of the Reed City Chamber of Commerce I was asked to write short article about my thoughts of the Reed City area.
This is one of the friendliest communities you’ll find anywhere around. We are a community that cares for one another. Whether it’s the celebration of good events or the tragedies that happen to our neighbors, we pull together for the common good.
We are very fortunate to be blessed with a hard-working labor base and a diverse business community that provides almost every service or product needed by our residents and visitors.
Stop by one of our monthly Business After Five events and check us out!
The Reed City area is also strong with many service organizations such as the VFW, Am Vets, Moose Lodge, Lions Club, Rotary, and many others. This is also a strong community based in volunteerism. In both the individual and business communities we have people who give of their time and money to support the Osceola Foundation, United Way, Habitat for Humanity, and other organizations who give back directly to where we live and play.
Volunteerism and cooperation doesn’t end there either. Our religious organizations have banded together to support our local food pantry, Habitat for Humanity, American Red Cross and other organizations that provide services for those in need.
< But what if living here isn’t in your present plans? When I first became acquainted with this area, it wasn’t in mine either. I spent my weekends, holidays, and vacations enjoying the recreational offerings of the area.
Unlike many trail communities, we’re located at the crossroads of TWO major branches of the Rails-To-Trails infrastructure; the White Pine and Pere Marquette trails provide a place for biking, walking, rollerblading, and snowmobiling. Soon we will have a world-class Depot in place that will house our Chamber and DDA offices, community meeting room, and provide a picnic area with 24-hour restrooms. It will be the focal point of our local trail systems well as link us to all area communities. That’s not to mention our rivers for canoeing, kayaking and tubing, our lakes for fishing and water sports, and the beautiful wooded areas we have for wild game and mushroom hunting, spectacular color tours, and on top of all this we have golfing too!
We may not be the entertainment capital of the world, but boy, we have a lot of fun things to do! Our free Music concerts every Friday and Saturday night, and Art in the Park on some Saturdays are held in the summer and we can also boast fantastic community events like our Evergreen and Great American Crossroads festivals that are held in our beautiful parks and friendly downtown areas. If you’re a camper, you’ll love Rambadt Memorial Park – a hidden gem where our weekend concerts are held. Our web site www.ReedCityCrossroads.com always has information and schedules for our many events.
And, heaven forbid, what if something goes wrong while you’re enjoying our area? Right here in Reed City we have extensive medical facilities ranging from a local hospital with specialists on duty, a cancer treatment center, and some of the most caring physicians you’ll find anywhere around.
So make plans to include Reed City in your travels – whether looking for a place to vacation, shop or live – you won’t be disappointed! The Reed City area is definitely a great place to be, take it from me.
Hoping to see you soon,
Linda Dean, President

Chamber On the Move
The Reed City Area Chamber of Commerce
is on the move! Our Chamber has made significant progress
in many areas during this past year. Paid membership has
increased from 108 members to 223. We have growing attendance
with many new faces for networking opportunities at our
monthly Chamber meetings and Business
After Five.
Our third Business
Expo was a great success. Our Chamber
logo and image are now widely recognized. We have completed
a successful Strategic Planning series which is providing
new direction for our future. We have a successful Professional Development Series which will offer more seminars in 2008.
The Chamber took over sponsorship
of the Evergreen Festival
in 2004. We are renewing and improving collaboration with
our Downtown Development Authority,
Evart and Hersey. We collaborated on a food drive with the
Old Rugged Cross Museum, and a Warmth and Toy Drive with Reed City Rotary. We have worked hard and accomplished
a lot but we have much more to do!
If you're an area business who is not currently a member of our Chamber, please consider joining. We are supported by annual membership dues paid by local businesses, non-profit organizations and individuals. Our dues are calculated on the basis of the number of employees in your business and payable annually.
Please contact any of our Board Members with questions you may have about becoming a member of our Chamber. We have great plans for our future but we need you to help us make it happen.
