Reed City's recreational attractions
are many. We are named the "Crossroads Community"
because of the crossroads of the White Pine Trail and the
Pere Marquette trail in the center of our downtown area.
We ARE the rail-trail capitol of Michigan! Complimenting
the trails is the vital transportation link of US 131, connecting
to Grand Rapids and Cadillac, and US 10 providing connections
to Lansing and the Tri-Cities.
Our community has been a crossroads of culture, industry
and transportation for well over 100 years. Our City Seal
represents a mostly bygone era of the railroad, petroleum
and logging. As our Chamber motto states so succinctly,
we are a "crossroads community on the path to progress."
Our crossroad status remains undiminished, but the future
will hold different prospects for Reed City. We rely on
our friends and connections in the surrounding communities
of Hersey Township and the Village of Hersey, Richmond Township,
Lincoln Township, Big Rapids to the south, Evart to the
East, Baldwin to the west, and Cadillac to the north. These
surrounding communities are partners and vital to the success
of Reed City. We have an intertwined past, present and future.
As we work to expand our Tourism section of "ReedCityCrossroads.com"
we are keeping these partners in mind. Not every community
has everything they need to be successful. We cannot stand
alone on the merits and achievements of the past but look
forward to the challenges and changes of the present and
future.
As a start, we have provided links to many areas of tourism
but we expect our "Tourism" section to grow significantly.
Many events of 2005, including Art and Music Festival schedules
are not yet finalized. Check back often for updates, and
please e-mail us
with your area's information. Our goal is to keep the
lines of communication open with our surrounding communities
and provide the most up-to-date information available.
Thanks for visiting!
